Tanya Fabian is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Tanya has a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design and a master's degree from the Missouri School of Journalism, University of Missouri, where she studied photojournalism under Bill Kuykendall and David Rees. At Parsons, Tanya was introduced to the art of storytelling by Brooke Goffstein, children's book author and influential teacher. Under Brooke's guidance, Tanya shaped stories of her family history into a young adult novel, Before the Wildflowers Bloom, published by Crown Publishers.
As a visual journalist, stories of family continue to touch her. In January 2019, Tanya was honored to receive The DocumentaryProjectFund's Mountain West Regional Grant to work on her photodocumentary project "Among the Anglos", a look at the descendants of Fort Collins' founding Hispanic families.
Tanya's work has appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Dubois County Herald, the Coloradoan and the Roanoke Times, as well as several regional magazines. She received the O.O. McIntyre Fellowship from the University of Missouri to work on a written and photographic documentary project about burley tobacco farmers in North Carolina.
